Meriel Brioche Cowl

Who doesn’t love a warm cozy cowl?
Am I right? There is nothing better than
wrapping yourself up in some cozy
handknits on a blustery day. This
reversible cowl will soon become a
staple for your winter wardrobe. This
pattern is written for worsted weight
yarn, but could easily be adapted for
anything from fingering to bulky weight
yarn. With three sizes available there is
something for everyone’s taste.

*Note this is for a PDF pattern, not the actual cowl.

grams or 210(315,420) yards.
1(1.5, 2) skein(s) worsted weight yarn in
contrast color approximately
100(150,200) grams or 210(315,420)
yards.

US Size 8 24″ circular knitting needle
for small and 32″ for medium or large or
size needed to get gauge.
1 stitch marker
Tapestry needle

Feel free to use any weight yarn for this
cowl, just remember your yardage
requirements and finished sizes might be
different.
Small sample was knit in bulky weight
yarn. It used 100gm (140yds) of main
color and 100gm(140yds) of the contrast
color using US 9 needles.
If desired, you can make this cowl in
fingering weight. I would recommend
making the medium or large using US 4
or 5 needle. You will need approximately
50gm (200yds) of each color for the
medium and 100gm (400yds) of each
color for the large. I would also
recommend doing an extra repeat of the
stitch pattern.
